Heat pump tour to COP26

260

The UK will host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties  (COP26) in Glasgow from 31 October to 12 November 2021. The European Heat Pump Association is organising a roadtrip to showcase the contribution of heat pumps to fighting climate change. EHPA Secretary General, Thomas Nowak will drive from Düsseldorf to Glasgow from 2 to 11 November, visiting heat pump manufacturers and installations, showing that heat pumps are everywhere on the way. From new and renovated buildings to industries and electric vehicles.

Why are heat pumps important to COP26?
With Climate change affecting our everyday lives, we expect the world leaders at COP26 to present ambitious CO2 emission reduction targets and concrete delivery pathways to achieve them. Targets and implementation action must include the heating and cooling sector building on the massive deployment of heat pump solutions. This technology enables the efficient and low carbon electrification of heating and cooling within the next decade. Emissions will continue to decline in line with ever-greener electricity generation. The technology is available for nearly all application areas (residential, commercial, industrial sectors) and is reliable and mature.

successful COP26 will include heating & cooling – based on heat pump solutions – in its concluding statements and will set the scene for national legislation and a market framework that triggers end-user demand and leads to quick deployment of the technology.

Hence, we are going to the COP26 on a road trip from 2 to 11 November, visiting heat pump sites on the way, and showing that heat pumps contribute to a greener planet.
