Alessia Del Vasto

- Senior EU Affairs Advisor

Alessia graduated with a Master of Arts in EU Public Policy and Administration at Maastricht University. Prior to joining EHPA, Alessia worked at the NGO Positive Money Europe, dealing with central banking and sustainable finance for over 3 years. Previously, she worked at the European Economic and Social Committee and at the European University Institute in Florence.

Alessia joined EHPA as EU Affairs Advisor in June 2022, covering policy and lobbying work with a specific focus on Refrigerants. She speaks Italian, English, French, Spanish and intermediate German.

Alessia holds a master’s degree in European Studies (in English) from Maastricht University, in the Netherlands, with a focus on European Public Administration. Right after her graduation in 2018, she joined the European Economic and Social Committee as a trainee in the European Semester Group, focusing on European economic policies. Upon completion of the traineeship, she joined Positive Money Europe as an Advocacy Officer, gaining knowledge on monetary policy instruments and sustainable finance, working towards a fairer and more sustainable Eurozone. While in Positive Money Europe, Alessia built a strong network in the European Parliament, finding allies over the whole political spectrum.

Willing to gain experience in the energy sector and combine it with her expertise in sustainable finance, Alessia joined the European Heat Pump Association, taking over the Refrigerants Task Force and the files discussed in this group, namely the Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases (F-gas) Regulation and the REACH Regulation. With the help of members and more senior colleagues in EHPA, the group, led by Alessia, drafted position papers and amendments to be distributed to policymakers. As the F-gas regulation will be published soon, closing the advocacy activity around it, Alessia is taking over more roles in the association. As of the end of 2023, she joined the Industrial and Commercial Heat Pumps group, organising meetings and informing members on the latest developments in the area. Such tasks involve collecting very technical information and data from members (mainly engineers and/or regulatory affairs experts) and assessing them, with the aim to support policy messages, develop common position papers and content for the EHPA website.
