Heat pumps are an efficient, renewable replacement for fossil fuel-based boilers. Not only do they heat and provide hot water, they can also offer cooling for those hot summer days and nights.
So why aren’t all consumers switching over?
One of the reasons is cost. While heat pumps cost more than a gas boiler up front, in the past they often won out in the longer term due to their much lower running costs. However, recently this has been undermined in many places due to decreasing fossil fuel prices and increasing electricity costs.
In this report, we look at ways to reduce those costs and ensure heat pumps are the most affordable choice for everyone.
