Ensuring the Polish heat pump sector can flourish – European experts appeal to raise awareness

12 Aug 2024

The Polish government is assessing the recognition of the Heat Pump KEYMARK certification scheme. The recognition decision would have an impact to the country’s heat pump industry and consumers.

KEYMARK guarantees the quality of the heat pumps it certifies and is used by over 150 brands. If it is no longer recognised in Poland, it would mean consumers choosing KEYMARK certified heat pumps are no longer eligible for financial support.

Poland can become a leader in heat pump manufacturing and reap the benefits in terms of jobs and the economy, but not recognising the widely used and highly valued KEYMARK scheme will increase costs and hinder trade.

This is why the Heat Pump KEYMARK Testing Laboratory Peer Group addressed a letter to the Polish Minister of Climate and Environment and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.

The letter emphasises the importance of the Heat Pump KEYMARK certification as core to a superior quality assurance system that should be adopted by Poland and highlights that the HP KEYMARK surpasses the new Clean Air regulations in ensuring compliance with EN standards, EU regulations, and ISO standards. Overall, adopting the HP KEYMARK would elevate Poland’s heating product standards, improve consumer trust, and align with EU practices.

In the same letter, the Heat Pump KEYMARK Testing Laboratory Peer Group invited the Polish authorities to communicate and exchange further, to ensure that reliable, trustworthy heat pumps can be delivered on time to Polish consumers for their comfort and well being.
