About heat pumps
A heat pump is a device that can provide heating, cooling and hot water for residential, commercial and industrial use. Despite the name, all heat pumps can provide both heating and cooling. They work well in nearly all types of climate.

Heat Pump KEYMARK: Info session for the Dutch Heat Pump Association
European Heat Pump Association > EHPA News > Heat Pump KEYMARK: Info session for the Dutch Heat Pump AssociationHeat Pump KEYMARK: Info session for the Dutch Heat Pump Association

Back in December, EHPA organised an online information session with the valuable support of the Dutch Heat Pump Association (Vereniging Warmtepompen) to update their members about Heat Pump KEYMARK, the voluntary European certification scheme for heat pumps.

The seminar started with a detailed presentation from the Head of the Heat Pump KEYMARK Secretariat, Tarik Bellahcene, giving information about the quality mark, its recognition in Europe, the numbers behind the scheme, the benefits of providing certified quality products on the market and the application process.
Laure Meljac, Chair of the Heat Pump KEYMARK Steering Committee, followed with a gap analysis explaining the main differences between the KEYMARK certification and the NEN7120, the existing certification in the Netherlands.
The last part of the meeting was dedicated to the scheme’s communication and social media strategy. Danaé Kokkalis, Heat Pump KEYMARK’s Communication Officer, gave insights about the many activities the scheme is involved in, such as social media campaigns, member engagement, event participation and online publications.
The session ended with a Q&A session where the participants had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss further with the scheme representatives.
Heat Pump KEYMARK is recognised in many countries surrounding the Netherlands where it can also be used as a quality mark in addition to the current Quality Declaration. The system is compliant with European Standards and is based on tests that are carried out by accredited laboratories, while the empowered certification bodies are responsible for granting the certificate.
To determine the energy performance, the Dutch calculation method (NTA 8800) requires EN 14511 measurement points for both on/off and modulating heat pumps. The main difference with the current NL Quality Declaration is that with Heat Pump KEYMARK, not all test conditions of EN 14825 and/or EN 14511 need to be tested in a certified laboratory.
EHPA will work closely with the Dutch Heat Pump Association and the BCRG (Bureau for Monitoring and Registration of Equivalence) to look at the possibilities of including Heat Pump KEYMARK in the current e Quality Declaration process, with the aim of reducing test costs.
