In Poland, 80% of heat pump users are satisfied with their heat pumps. That’s according to a representative sample of 1,000 owners of single-family houses heated with heat pumps, surveyed in August 2025 by SW Research. Only 5% said they were not satisfied.
Paweł Lachman, heating industry expert and president of the Polish Heat Pump Technology Development Organization (PORT PC) called it “tangible proof that heat pumps truly meet the needs of Polish households. Such a high level of user satisfaction is a strong signal that this technology works well in practice – it is convenient, maintenance-free, and ensures predictable heating costs. This is the best recommendation for those seeking the most efficient heat source, resistant to fluctuations in energy carrier prices.”
Respondents particularly value the ease of operation (84% satisfied or very satisfied) and the reliability of the devices (77% satisfied or very satisfied). High user ratings translate into loyalty to the technology – 73% of those surveyed declared that if they were to choose a heating source again, they would opt for a heat pump.
The study revealed that the level of user satisfaction with heat pumps is equally high among residents of newly built houses and those who decided to install them in existing homes, regardless of the type of heat pump chosen.
“The results of public opinion research clearly show that heat pumps enjoy high acceptance in Poland. Importantly, the level of user satisfaction remains very high regardless of whether the heat pump has been integrated with other energy-saving solutions – this proves that the technology itself stands the test of everyday use” – emphasises Bartłomiej Derski, energy market expert.
Another survey from April 2025 – by Poland’s Institute of Environmental Economics – showed that satisfaction with heat pumps is by far the highest compared to other heating devices – over 80% of respondents using this technology believe it is the best heating source for their home. For comparison: among gas boiler users, around 60% report satisfaction, while pellet boiler users reach about 70%.
Other recent surveys in Germany and the UK have found similar rates of satisfaction.
About the survey
The survey was conducted by SW Research in August 2025 on a representative sample of 1,000 heat pump users in Poland using a hybrid method: 400 online interviews (CAWI) on the SW Panel internet panel and 600 telephone interviews (CATI) with individuals using heat pumps. The analysis covered both technical aspects as well as levels of satisfaction and loyalty to this technology.
