The LIFE Street HP Reno project aims to deploy collective purchasing strategies for replacing energy systems with heat pumps in individual homes, applied at the scale of entire streets.

To achieve this, the consortium must engage all relevant stakeholders:

  • Local authorities (cities), housing organizations, and residents, to demonstrate the value of the approach, aggregate demand, and enable the emergence of group purchasing schemes for heat pumps.
  • Installers and solution providers, to involve them in the process and encourage the development of tailored, packaged, prefabricated, and industrialized solutions—more cost-effective, higher in quality, and offering new services aligned with the ecological transition.

The ultimate goal is to reduce costs and enable the large-scale deployment of heat pumps in renovation projects, serving as a key lever for decarbonising heating in existing housing.

Partners are working along three main axes:

1st Axis: Characterise and classify typologies of individual housing at the street level to better identify buildings suited for collective heat pump purchases. This will be integrated into a deep renovation process aimed at achieving energy efficiency and decarbonization targets by 2050 (WP2).

2nd Axis: Develop and provide stakeholders with legal and contractual model agreements, based on viable and widely replicable economic frameworks. These will be informed by consumer panel surveys to better understand user expectations (WP3).

3rd Axis: Raise awareness among local authorities, installers, and solution providers, followed by a marketing campaign targeting residents to trigger a viral adoption effect. This should lead to the development of pilot/test projects that will generate feedback to inform future initiatives (WP4).
