Large Heat Pumps for Industrial Applications

Industry uses 2,388 TWh of final energy for heating and cooling purposes, most of it for process heating. Providing this energy in the most efficient way will significantly reduce fossil energy consumption and related emissions. Many industrial processes do operate at high temperatures and thus require low emission fuels (for example green hydrogen, methane or biogas/biofuels) or a change in process design towards electrification. The feasibility of heat pump technology in industrial applications depends on the temperature levels needed in production.
