On the eve of the publication of the European Commission Low Carbon Energy Strategy and the “High-Level Round Table on the Decarbonisation of the Heating Sector”, the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) joins forces with global companies to call for a minimum carbon pricing for heating (notably in buildings), aside new carbon pricing mechanism for power and transport sector.
Thomas Nowak (EHPA’s Secretary General) said “it is undisputed that in order to reach a decarbonised sustainable and smart energy system in 2050, heating needs to become EU’s priority. “Carbon pricing” will speed up the energy transition, making renewable heating solutions, such as heat pumps, more attractive to the end user, and unleashing the investments needed.”
