Consumers in the center of Energy Union – Watch out for the too long hanging fruit!

| Press release on MEP breakfast debate: The Human Dimension of Energy Efficiency in Buildings

Prior to the start of EUSEW 2016, the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) organised a breakfast debate on the human dimension of energy efficiency. The event was co-organised with EU.bac, SME Europe and hosted by MEP Bendt Bendsen on 14 June 2016.

Thomas Nowak, Secretary General of EHPA, said at the end of the event: “Putting consumers at the center of the Energy Union requires taking into account the human dimension behind purchasing patterns. Citizens want easy solutions. If EU policy-makers are serious about COP21 commitments, they need to create frameworks aligning individual selection of heating and cooling technologies with the EU’s climate targets. They should promote the highest efficient solutions integrating a majority share of renewables and value system integration. Let’s not fall in the trap of the 'too low hanging fruit!”
