With a heating capacity of 800 kW, this is largest plant of its kind in Switzerland. It uses a CO2 as natural refrigerant, and complies with the environmental rules of the country. The source for the heat pumps is waste heat, such as the heat from the refrigeration system, sewage and compression air. Given the high efficiency of heat pumps, the output temperature of the hot water is 90oC, which removed the necessity of post-heating the water. Also, the three heat pumps connect the heating and cooling facilities which were proviously separated, giving a higher efficiency of the system.

Savings

  • COP: exceeding 3
  • heating performance: 2200 MWh/year
  • 259.000 m³ natural gas/year
  • CO₂ emissions reduction: 510 t/year
