Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Regulations Lot 1 and 2 published

Sep. 06, 2013

EHPA is very pleased that – after many years of communications, consultations and adaptations – the European Commission finally published the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Regulations for Lot 1 (space and combi-heaters) and Lot 2 (water heaters and hot water storage tanks). As with every other EU legislation, this means that the Regulations officially enter into force on the 26th of September 2013. Please find the final Regulations via this link.

EHPA welcomes the Regulations in their final form as it is very likely to push the end-consumer towards the most energy efficient technologies on the market, since a single label for all heating systems (gas and oil boilers, solar thermal, heat pumps, cogeneration) will enable the consumer to compare the efficiency of functionally equivalent heat generators.

Being very energy efficient, heat pumps will be ranked in the top tier classes of the different labels. As such, the technology could benefit to quite a large extent once the Regulations are fully into force.
