EC 'Climate package' - Promoting innovative technologies and investments at all levels will accelerate Europe's energy transition

Jul. 20, 2016

Thomas Nowak, Secretary General of the European Heat Pump Association:

‘With today’s ‘Climate Package’, the European Commission (EC) has voiced its ambition to accelerate Europe’s transition to a low-carbon economy by maintaining Europe’s leadership in innovative low-carbon technologies, including in the building sector. The EC has also confirmed its plan to rapidly scale up private investment to avoid the ‘lock-in’ of high emissions infrastructure.

For the European Heat Pump Association, a clear policy direction with solid financial grounds will help to unleash the strong decarbonisation potential of renewable and energy efficient solutions, especially in the heating and cooling sector.  We hope now that Member States will follow theses lines in their emission reductions efforts.'
